Africa

Burkina Faso
ACAT-Burkina (www.fiacat.org) organizes a prayer vigil at the Sacré-Coeur de Dapoya church, starting at 21h on September 21. ACAT also encourages local churches to have a time of prayer on that day.

Congo
Women will meet for fasting and prayer in the Socopao Limete Presbyterian Church on the International Day of Prayer for Peace.

On September 21, a service will be held at St. Raphael Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m to 17:00 p.m . Pastor Jean Pierre Tshileu Kabuya form the Presbyterian church will be preaching and a Baptist Elder will lead through the programme. Through the week, Leader are sent to various churches to talk about the DOV on Sunday, September 16, and on Wednesday September 19, a conference will be held on Violence and Human Rights. Women will be fasting at the Socopao Presbyterian Church, preparing for the service on Friday.

Kenya
On Thursday the 20th, the National Council of Churches in Kenya organized a workshop for Peace Building which was attended by Muslims and Christians leaders. On 21st, a Peace Campaighn was launched (CHOOSE PEACE, AVOID CHAOS). The President of the Republic Mwai Kibaki was there as the Chief Guest, who launched five doves as a sign of Peace.

Nigeria
Zakaria Bulus informs the DOV that he will help promote the day at his church headquarters, Church of the Brethren in Nigeria -EYN and among other groups whose primary calling is prayer ministry.

Bishop Dr.Kenneth I. Anaba will be mobilizing the churches and ministries of the Annointing Power Ministries to get involved in vigils, Reconcillation Peace Crusades and other Peace Prayer Travelling Movements from Friday 21st-Monday September 2007.

Uganda
Enoch Magala, a member of the WCC Youth Body, is in contact with different secretariats of the Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant churches, as well as with the National Youth Coordinator to motivate young people from member churches to pray together on IDPP.

Zambia

Asia & Pacific

Australia
A prayer service will be held at St Peter's Eastern Hill in East Melbourne The service will start at 5:30 at the Anglican Church. The speakers will be from the Uniting Church, the Baptist Church, the Catholic Church and the Victorian Council of Churches. They will address the issues of Peace and Justice in different countries.

South Korea
Many churches of the Peace Community of the Presbyterian Church of the Republic of Korea will be praying on this day.

Europe

Denmark
The International Church of Copenhagen is hosting an Ecumenical Service of prayers and songs on September 21.

France
The local group (Alsace) of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation organizes a Peace Vigil in Strasbourg, in collaboration with the members of SOC, of L'Arche de Lanza del Vasto and the Quakers. It will take place from 19 to 21h on Place de la République in Strasbourg.

The "Caravane des Femmes pour la Paix" (a joint action of all the member churches of Cevaa) joins the WCC's initiative on September 21st to pray for peace.

Norway
On the occasion of the International Day of Prayer of Peace 2007 the Norwegian Ecumenical Peace Platform in cooperation with Karibu Foundation will hold an Ecumenical Service for peace in the chapel of the Church House in Oslo.

Scotland
The Scottish Episcopal Church will organize an event in relation to the International Day of Prayer for Peace on September 21.

Spain
The Spanish Reformed Episcopal Church has joined the Initiative for Peace and will be participating on that day. 

Switzerland
Sonnenhof Retraitenhaus Schwestern von Grandchamp - a small Christian and ecumenical prayer-community of sisters who live in the German speaking part of Switzerland will be praying for peace & reconciliation and to work for justice in ways possible for a contemplative community.

World Council of Churches, Geneva -  a special service will take place at the chapel of the Ecumenical Centre at 12h noon.

A prayer service will take place in St. François church in Lausanne from 17h30 to 18h15. From 16h00 will be a time of meditation and silent prayer (texts and prayers will be provided).

The Reformed Church in Berne has invited all the parishes to join together in the Peace Vigil. The invitation was sent to all church responsibles in Berne, Jura and Solothurn. Visit their website for more information: http://www.refbejuso.ch

United Kingdom
The United Reformed Church is promoting the IDPP among their parishes to all member churches.

A festival including prayers for peace will be organised at St. Mark's United Reformed Church in Manchest

Wales
The Presbyterian Church in Wales has strongly shown their support for the IDPP.

Latin America

Brazil
Marcelo Schneider informs the DOV that many churches who were involved in the WCC 9th Assembly and DOV issues will be taking part.

Colombia
The Red Ecuménica de Colombia and la Comisión de Restauración Vida y Paz del Consejo Evangélico de Colombia-CEDECOL will be participating along with member churches.

On Sept. 21, Colombian Mennonites will take to the streets of the capital city, handing out bread to passers-by and asking people to consider the link between peace and hunger, poverty and economic injustice.

Cuba
The Cuban Council of Churches will participate and promote the event among its member churches.

North America

Canada
The Parish of Northern Pontiac will be marking the International Day of Prayer for Peace by coming together to share in a common meal - each person is invited to bring in a vegetable or other food item to share in the soup pot.  They will also bake bread - as they knead it, they will knead in their prayers for peace in the world, in the homes of many, and in the lives of all. (From 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., all are welcome!)

The United Church in Canada has joyfully joined the initiative, mobilizing their members and congregations to pray on that day.

United States
On September 21 the Living Letters team visiting the United States will attend the Peace Bell Ceremony, during which Mr. Ban Ki Moon, Secretary of the United nations, will ring a bell at the Japanese Garden in front of the UN Conference Building in New York.

The First Mennonite Church in Middleburg will organise a Peace Walk and a Candle Light on IDPP.

The Wesley United Methodist Church, which consists of 80 young adults, will hold prayer for peace.

Rev. Larry Pickens promotes this event throughout the United Methodist Church, USA.

Rev. Nathan Day Wilson will observe this day with his congregation at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Shelbyville, Indiana.

Dr. Robert Welsh from the Christian Disciples of Christ has sent an invitation for participation in IDPP to over 450 persons worldwide.

Theology student Ray Ranker wrote a report on various activities taking place on September 21. One of these events is the week of Peace for Palestine and Israel from 17th leading to the IDPP on September 21.
