Visite de "lettres vivantes" au Kenya, du 30 janvier au 3 février 2008

Du 30 janvier au 3 février, les Eglises du Kenya, qui oeuvrent pour la paix en pleine vague de violence postélectorale, ont reçu la visite pastorale d'une délégation oecuménique internationale envoyée par le Conseil oecuménique des Eglises (COE) en signe de solidarité.  

Les Eglises du Kenya luttent en faveur de la paix et de la réconciliation alors que déferlent les vagues de violence postélectorale, aggravée par des facteurs ethniques, qui, depuis le début de l'année, ont causé la mort de plus de 700 personnes et forcé quelque 250 000 habitants à quitter leurs foyers.  

Cette visite manifestait la solidarité des Eglises du monde entier avec celles du Kenya en ces temps particulièrement difficiles. L'équipe oecuménique, qui était l'hôte du Conseil national des Eglises du Kenya, s'est aussi informée de la meilleure manière dont la communauté ecclésiastique internationale peut soutenir les efforts de paix et de réconciliation entrepris par les Eglises du pays.
